Life sucks. Da Fuk poetry gonna do about it? Maybe nothing, maybe something. Join us for this two hour Olio where we read difficult poetry that asks some tough goddamn questions: Do we give up and die? Do we retreat into quietude and wait for the storm to pass? Do we surrender to easy pleasures? Do we fight back?
The last question we will take seriously, but we will take the others seriously as well. Poetry: our last bastion.
*We'll provide coffee and bagels for this afternoon Olio*
IDIO is a contemporary art gallery and performance space located between iron and auto workshops in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The 100-year-old space was once a horse barn, a muralist headquarters and a rave dungeon. The space aims to foster iconoclastic arts, challenging thought and the experience of freedom in a time of consumerist conformity.
Think Olio is not about learning a new skill or adding credentials to your resume. It is about getting together with other people and expanding our worldview. It exists as a conduit for fruitful discussions, a dissent from the regurgitation of facts, and an embrace of new perspectives.
