One of our favorite Think Olio professors is the director of the immaculate Nassau Country Museum of Art on Long Island. We've decided we need to make a trip out for a private tour on the closing day of each one of his shows. So join us for the third trip to see 150 acres of nature trails, contemporary sculptures, and of course the unbelievable art lining the walls of the old Frick mansion.
Take the Long Island Railroad Port Washington line from Penn Station to the Manhasset station. If you catch the 1:18pm train then we will be there to pick you up at the station and give you a ride to the museum. Bring snacks for a picnic and we'll provide the wine! After an hour or so, we will begin and Riley will lead us through a wild tour of his gorgeous museum. From Penn Station To Manhasset – 1:18 PM to 1:58 PM – 40 mins – Off Peak
When an international art star curates an exhibition revisiting one of the most dynamic eras in American art history, expect fireworks. Eric Fischl, master of the loaded group portrait, has been the curatorial advisor for a stunning show featuring more than a hundred works by all the great personalities of the Eighties.
Come see art from Julian Schnabel, David Salle, Ross Bleckner, Bryan Hunt, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Cindy Sherman, Robert Longo, Jenny Holzer, Robert Mapplethorpe, Annette Lemieux, Charlie Clough, Tseng Kwong Chi, Jonathan Lasker and others.
Think Olio is not about learning a new skill or adding credentials to your resume. It is about getting together with other people and expanding our worldview. It exists as a conduit for fruitful discussions, a dissent from the regurgitation of facts, and an embrace of new perspectives.
