How Did Trump Happen? And What if He Wins...?

None at Coworkrs Flatiron

Tue, Jun 14 at 6:30 p.m.   |   90 minutes

In this session, the professor will put forward “A Theory of Donald Trump as Presidential Candidate,” based on social scientific and humanistic research, close readings of the candidate across time, and a number of factors that many commentators missed in their initial accounts of the man. Given the game-changing nature of this election cycle, he’ll also cover “where we’re likely headed now,” before opening up a highly interactive discussion about the ways, whys, and potential impacts of all things Trump—and what that may mean for all of us!

Before the class, participants should read Healey and Haberman, “95,000 Words, Many of Them Ominous, From Donald Trump’s Tongue”, and watch the Digg video, “A Linguistic Analysis of Donald Trump Shows Why People like Him So Much."

What is Think Olio?

Think Olio is here to put the liberation back into the liberal arts.

Classically, the liberal arts, were the education considered essential for a free person to take an active part in civic life. To counter a humanities that has been institutionalized and dehumanized we infuse critical thinking, openness, playfulness, and compassion into our learning experience.
