Was this the most startling presidential election in US history? Sadly, it’s got some competition. The United States, being the oldest currently running “democracy” in the world has had its fair number of exciting presidential elections. This Olio examines some of the interesting episodes and individuals in modern presidential elections. From the Bull Moose Party to Tricky Dick’s antics to Trump’s circus at least we can be comforted by the fact that our political system gives great fodder for comics and historians alike. Join us to discuss what just happened and how we can give this election context in the larger scope American politics.

What is Think Olio?

Think Olio is here to put the liberation back into the liberal arts.

Classically, the liberal arts, were the education considered essential for a free person to take an active part in civic life. To counter a humanities that has been institutionalized and dehumanized we infuse critical thinking, openness, playfulness, and compassion into our learning experience.
