OlioHouse is a home for scenius members who want to slow down and break away from the NYC energy for a while. It is for people who see the importance of a lifelong education in the humanities and having dedicated open spaces for critical dialogue and contemplation. It is a place to be in the company of people who seek to actively question and intentionally affect the world around them in positive ways. For these people we are holding a place not to escape but to re-energize.
Olios in NYC will continue to be as frequent and ever evolving, only we will also be opening up the doors of OlioHouse for weekend seminars with professors and special guest teachers – imagine learning, reading, debating, writing, drinking and falling asleep to the sound of crickets before you wake up to do it all over again.
Essentially, OlioHouse is a Think Olio playground for the scenius.
We’re located right at the end of Metro-North’s Harlem line, a ~2-hour ride from Grand Central.
Our Getaway Package saves you up to $20 round-trip, and $5 of your ticket price gets donated to the Wassaic Project. Here’s what to do:
1. Go to any MTA kiosk.
2. Find the “Getaways” tab. This’ll take a couple extra touches.
3. Scroll all the way down to Wassaic.
4. Buy it!
It’s available Friday to Sunday in summer, and on Saturdays in winter. Round-trip tickets from Manhattan cost $37.75 for adults. See here for a more comprehensive fare structure (long story short, it’ll be cheaper). And, yes, it works on peak trains, too!
Once you’re here, take a short walk right into town along the Harlem Valley Rail Trail or get a ride with the Taxi Man.
