Think Olio's first member party will take place at Nowaday's new indoor space on March 7th.
We'll have a 2 for 1 happy hour until 8pm, an Olio co-taught by the most entertaining couple you've ever met, and some music to round out the night.
This event is free and only open to our 100 founding members. There are 100 spots total for the party and we are currently at 86. Don't sleep!
The hardcore philosophy book The Marxist Philosophy of Language claims that linguistic signs are spaces of conflict and class struggle, each word containing multiple, often opposing, ideological perspectives. Join Matarese and Klock — the Bonnie and Clyde of ThinkOlio — for a look at how this theory plays out in two major, and weirdly connected arenas: the Twitter feeds of Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and their ilk; and Ancient Rome as imagined by William Shakespeare. Matarese has a doctorate in linguistics and Klock has a doctorate in poetry: this Olio is going to be especially interesting because both professors look very closely at words from very different perspectives – the first scientific, the second anything but.
