Smartphones: The Fetish of Scientism

Presented with The Deanery

fe•tish ►

n.An object that is believed to have magical or spiritual powers, especially such an object associated with animistic or shamanistic religious practices.

n.An object of unreasonably excessive attention or reverence.

What is it we hope to get from them that we are willing to shut out the world, walk into people, sprain our ankle, ruin our eyesight and generally let our lives be curated by others rather than experience them?
