Shakespeare Happy Hour | Think Olio 3rd Anniversary

Katherine Robbins

In celebration of Think Olio's 3rd year anniversary, Dzieci theater will open the evening by performing scenes from their ritual-infused adaptation of Macbeth, demonstrating their unique approach to theatre. Geoff Klock will then be demonstrating his unique approach to lecturing and somehow draw a connection between David Lynch and Shakespeare.

Breaking the 4th Wall Weirdness

In Twin Peaks David Lynch’s character says “we all live inside a dream — but who is the dreamer?” Join me for a look at a few scenes in Shakespeare — Hamlet reacting to the Ghost, Macbeth reacting to this wife’s death, the play put on by the characters in Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Prospero’s farewell — where characters seem to know for a flickering moment that they are in a play — and what that can tell us about mindfulness, our own relationship to art and to our lives, and David Lynch’s question.

“You haven’t seen Macbeth until you’ve seen it presented by Dzieci… an eye-popping-ear-poking confirmation that Shakespeare once again constructed something not easily degraded.”
